Passive Buildings

What are Passive Buildings?

A passive building, whether it is a single-family home, multifamily apartment building, school, office building, or other non-residential building is built with a specific set of design principles based on building sciences, that can be applied to all buildings.  The highest levels of energy efficiency, comfort, safety and resiliency are attained because of established standards that create ideal indoor living environments. This is done through thermal, air, radiation and moisture control. These high standards are what make passive buildings different from average construction.

Phius a 501(c)(3) organization has built the mainstream market standard for passive buildings. They train, certify and credential professionals in the building industry.  They certify consultants, builders, raters and verifiers who are proficient in the science of passive buildings including techniques and strategies, high performance enclosures and and mechanical systems and project execution.
