If you don’t think choosing an ENERGY STAR appliance can make a difference, consider these facts:
- The average household spends about $2,200 each year on their energy bills.
- By following the practices and using the products suggested by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy’s ENERGY STAR program, you can save up to one-third that cost or approximately $700 each year.
- Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, prevented 43 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions in 2008 alone––equivalent to the annual emissions from 29 million vehicles––and saved more than $19 billion on their utility bills.
- In Delaware 27% of households have a second refrigerator in the basement or garage costing almost $15 million each year.
