A Bird Named "SEU"

Meet “Delaware SEU” (pronounced Sue), Energize Delaware’s new Red Knot shorebird mascot!

Say hello to our mascot Delaware SEU! Hi, I’m Delaware SEU – the Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility’s mascot. I’m a Red Knot shorebird. I love Delaware and I love Delawareans.  That’s why I’m very excited to be here to work with you to cut energy waste, save money, create jobs, and of course improve the environment.

I know firsthand the exceptional natural beauty we have in our state.  When we take small steps to increase energy efficiency and use renewable energy sources, we are reducing carbon emissions – pollutants that harm air quality and contribute to climate change. Find out more about me and how important Delaware is to Red Knot shorebirds!

I know that your wallet (birds don’t really use those) could use a boost. The SEU’s Energize Delaware provides lots of opportunities to improve efficiency and use clean energy.

We also know that Delaware’s businesses and the state’s economy and jobs could use a boost. Energize Delaware programs for businesses and nonprofits are helping out there too.

Here's what some of our state's leaders are saying about "Delaware SEU" and the opportunities for all of us to become more energy efficient and protect our planet:

"Delawareans recently came together to use teamwork and technology to save millions of dollars on the cost of energy while dramatically increasing the percentage of our power that comes from clean energy sources. But the cleanest energy, and the most cost-effective kilowatt, is the energy we don't have to use because we've conserved. Across the state, our kids are leading the way in making a commitment to conservation."
- Gov. Jack Markell

“Delaware has some of the most beautiful and diverse wildlife, landscapes, and natural wonders. The SEU’s ‘Delaware SEU' Red Knot spokesbird is a fun and educational way to engage Delaware families to learn more about simple steps they can take to save energy, save money, revitalize our state’s economy and enhance our natural environment.”
- Sec. Collin O'Mara, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control

“Delawareans can turn to the SEU for help in saving money and improving the environment. The 'Delaware SEU' mascot is a great way to make learning and saving fun and educational and to remind Delawareans of the wonderful natural beauty in our great state.”
- Sen. Harris McDowell, co-chair of the SEU

I also want you to get to know some of my Delaware friends who are trying to protect our environment: Delaware Nature SocietyDelaware RiverKeeper and theClean Air Council.

And of course you may know my cousins the Delaware Blue Hen and the Delaware State Hornet.

Together we can do great things.  Let’s EnergizeDelaware.org.
