Rebate Reservation System
After a spike in homeowners taking advantage of SEU Energize Delaware Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® rebates, the SEU Oversight Board executive committee approved a rebate reservation system to closely monitor accelerated participation in the popular home energy efficiency program. The reservation system will allow homeowners to pre-qualify for a rebate before any work begins on their home and provides the state an indication of its rebate obligations.
Starting September 1, 2011 homeowners participating in the Energize Delaware Home Performance program who have had an energy audit can work with their contractor to make a reservation that locks in rebate funds for planned energy efficiency projects. This reservation must be made by September 10th to guarantee the funds.
Homeowners may also continue to seek to finance their home energy efficiency projects through Energize Delaware low-interest loans. Qualifying Delaware homeowners can get financing to cover the full cost of efficiency projects (up to $20,000). Interest rates range from 3.9 percent for the biggest efficiency projects that deliver the most energy savings, or 6.9 percent for smaller projects. The payback period for the loans can be up to 10 years.
A Note on Renewable Energy Installations:
Energize Delaware's Home Performance Program currently does not offer rebates on the installation of renewable energy measures nor rebates based upon the energy savings achieved from installing a renewable energy measure. Please note that Geothermal Heat Pumps are classified as a renewable energy measure and are likewise not eligible for Energize Delaware rebates. Qualified measures that are eligible for rebates are listed in the incentive table below or can be downloaded here. Homeowners may be eligible for renewable energy rebates through the state's Delaware's Green Energy Fund.
Home Performance participants may be eligible to receive financing for a renewable installation(s) as long as the applicant is financing the installation of at least one Home Performance qualifying measure with a minimum cost of $500. If seeking financing for a renewable installation(s), the project must meet all eligibility requirements of Delaware's Green Energy Fund Program.
To be eligible for incentives from Energize Delaware, your home must meet certain eligibility requirements.
Please note that the Program is required to issue a 1099 for any rebate over $600. A completed W-9 form must be submitted to issue a rebate.
The rebate levels below reflect incentive amounts available for applicants who have completed an energy audit by August 31, 2011 and who have submitted a reservation request through their contractor by September 10, 2011.

Each measure in the standard path is capped at the above amount up to 20% of the total cost. Total rebate paid to the customer is capped at $1,800 from the list above. Heating and cooling equipment rebates are not subject to the $1,800 cap.

A $250 comprehensive energy audit rebate is applicable only if a resulting Home Performance job is completed within six months of the audit and the installed measure(s) cost is equal to or greater than $500. All customer rebates are paid at completion of job.

- The performance path is capped at 50% of the total installed cost or to the incentive level indicated above, whichever is lower.

Eligibility
- This offer is valid for owner occupied single-family residential units within the state of Delaware only.
- To participate in the program, you must be the registered homeowner, receive a Home Energy Audit, and install qualified measures and/or equipment through an approved Home Performance participating contractor.
- Rebates are available for the installation of qualified measures and equipment purchases after August 18, 2010 and are subject to available funds. Installations performed prior to August 18, 2010, are not eligible for rebates.
- Customers must receive a rebate reservation confirmation in order to be eligible for an incentive.
- Products and equipment must be installed in the state of Delaware.
- Participants applying for Home Performance incentives must have either a central A/C unit, air source heat pump, or other primary electric heating system, or a gas furnace or gas boiler.
