Who is Eligible

To be eligible for an Energize Delaware home energy loan, you must be a participant in Energize Delaware's Home Performance program and be the registered owner of a separately metered, detached or attached single-family residence where the home energy audit is completed and the product/equipment is being installed.  Attached units are duplexes, condominiums, and townhouses.  New construction, multi-family units and commercial properties are not eligible.  Good credit and the ability to replay are required; all income levels are eligible.  You must also receive a rebate reservation confirmation number to assure you are eligible for a rebate.

Who May Perform the Work?

Only a limited number of contractors have been approved to both participate in the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program and offer financing through the Home Energy Loan Program.  You must work with one of these contractors in order to be eligible for a loan.  To locate a contractor who offers financing, look for the icon that says "Financing Partner" on our participating contractor list.

What Improvements Qualify?

After the home energy audit, your contactor will recommend a variety of energy efficiency improvements for your home, and you have the option to finance 100% of the Home Performance qualifying work.  Incentives available through the Home Performance Standard Path allow you to receive rebates based on a standard list of home energy improvement upgrades.  Following the Performance Path allows you to receive rebates based upon the overall reduction of energy use in your home.

Renewable Energy Projects

Renewable energy projects can be financed through this program as long as the customer also finances the installation of one other qualifying measure with a minimum cost of $500.  The project must meet all eligibility requirements of Delaware's Green Energy Fund Program.
NOTE: If you are participating in the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Performance Path, you may receive financing for a renewable installation(s), however the energy savings from that renewable installation(s) will not be part of the energy modeling used to determine your Home Performance energy savings and rebate.

Steps to Apply for a Home Energy Loan

Step One:  Get an energy audit.  Contact an Energize Delaware Home Performance participating contractor who is also an approved financing partner to schedule an audit.  The audit firm will prepare a list of recommended improvements specific to your home's needs as well as provide a cost estimate to install those improvements and available rebates.  Your  contractor will also need to submit a rebate reservation request to confirm availability of rebates.

Step Two:  Apply for your loan.  For fast loan approval, apply on-line at deenergyloan.com. You may also apply by phone at 888-232-3477.  You can have your home energy audit completed prior to submitting your loan application, or you can choose to have your loan pre-approved prior to having the audit.

Step Three:  We pay the contactor and you start saving!  Upon your project's completion, you'll sign the completion certification that will be provided to you and we'll pay the contractor directly.
