Important Rebate Notice for Participating Contractors

Due to the high level of participation in the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR (HPwES) Program, Energize Delaware is taking steps to review the program and evaluate rebate obligations. Effective September 1, 2011, we are implementing a new rebate reservation process.  To learn more, visit our Rebate Reservation information page and FAQs.  Contractors were notified by letter on September 1, 2011.

With over 3,000 Home performance jobs to date, Delawareans are fast learning the comfort and saving benefits of the "whole-house" approach to energy efficiency achieved through Energize Delaware's Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program.

As an Energize Delaware Home Performance participating contractor you can expand your business and provide customers with more comfortable, safe, and durable homes, while helping reduce their energy use and costs. Knowing how to diagnose and fix whole-house problems can bring you a wider array of jobs and more referrals from satisfied customers. It’s a smart way to expand your sales and give your business a “green” competitive edge!

Participating Home Performance with ENERGY STAR contractors must receive a minimum of a Building Analyst Professional certification from the Building Performance Institute (BPI), the national technical certification organization for the Home Performance industry.  There are several organizations that provide training, please use BPI's Training Affiliate Search Tool to make a selection.

To help customers fund their energy efficiency projects, Energize Delaware now offers home energy loans as part of the HPwES program!  Contractors must be approved by both Energize Delaware and AFC First to offer this option to homeowners.  Once your application has been approved, you will be listed as an approved Financing Partner on the Energize Delaware contractor list.

Important Message for HVAC Contractors

Effective January 1, 2011 a home energy audit, conducted by an approved Home Performance contractor, is now required in order to receive a heating and cooling equipment rebate through Energize Delaware.  For HVAC firms that are new to the Home Performance Program, you or your company may either become a certified BPI contractor by attending training, or choose to partner with a BPI certified firm that can provide the mandatory energy audits.  By partnering with a firm that can provide the energy audit, your company will be listed on the Home Performance participating contractor list.
